XIMA DESIGN LAB was established in 2010 by two young architecture graduates, Shahab Afsharian and Elmira Omidvar, who shared an interest in analytical thinking and experience-based design. Since then, they have been exploring ways to integrate design thinking, contextual sensitivity, and architectural response through continuous practice and reflection.

They believe that architecture is not merely about creating form and space, but a process of deepening our understanding of the environment, translating needs into spatial experiences, and rethinking the relationship between people, place, and built form.

At XIMA, each project is approached with a clear question in mind and developed through research, contextual study, and careful evaluation. By adopting this approach, they have evolved the fundamental practice of an architecture studio into a design lab, where ideas can be tested and refined before taking architectural form. The outcome of this process is the creation of contemporary works with a minimalist and site-responsive approach; works in which simplicity is not about reduction, but about revealing the essence of space. In this path, particular attention is paid to sensory aspects and spatial qualities, as well as continuity with the cultural and physical context.

Design at XIMA is seen as a layered process where research, intuition, and hands-on experimentation are in ongoing dialogue. Each project becomes a chance to revisit familiar questions, reimagine possible answers, and shape spaces that can be experienced, understood, and remembered.

For them, "Practicing and Experiencing Architecture" is not a motto, but a reflection of their ongoing journey, a continuous exploration of design possibilities and a commitment to moving thoughtfully between theory and practice.
